Andrew's 2nd birthday, III and IV

When we got back to San Jose, we quickly prepared for Andrew's birthday the next day (a Monday). He had cupcakes and presents for everyone at his daycare (the 6 of them). Apparently they a great time, and sang Happy Birthday many times.

Then we had cupcakes and presents for him that evening. He blew out his candles all by himself. As you may be able to tell in the picture, he moved up to a booster seat on his birthday. We picked one up and decided it give it a try, and he was very excited about it. He helped us to pack away the high chair a few days later. He's growing up!

On the following Saturday, Andrew had a birthday party at his house, with three of friends (all girls):) His mom made him a Thomas the train cake, complete with Andrew as the engineer.

Not quite sure what his parents were thinking here. We got him a his own ride-on train. Luckily it fits in the living room while still accommodating the couch. He is warming up to it, still working on driving it himself. One of the other party guests liked the train alot and rode it around, while the other two were quite afraid of it.

Ok, everybody say cheese!

I just thought it was funny that Nora (the girl on the left in front) makes a similar face to Andrew's when you prompt her to smile for a picture:)

Yeah, balloons! Toddlers are pretty easy to entertain at this age. Later, many of the balloons were tangled up and Andrew had fun tangling himself up in them and then running through the house while the others chased after him. I'm sure this is a very safe activity!

Birthday cake time! And presents. Andrew is a very lucky boy- it will take him at least a week to play with each of his new toys from Christmas and his birthday. We have set a few of them aside to take out over the next few months.

He may be a big boy, but he isn't yet big enough to wear Daddy's shoes! He is actually wearing his own shoes inside of Daddy's shoes here.
When we asked Andrew how he liked his party, he said:
"Nora come over, Nilah come over, Meghan come over.
Hot dogs on Daddy's grill.
Thomas cake."
Sounds about right.

Our little one is currently a bit confused over the whole holiday thing. He has been requesting to wear his Santa hat and saying Merry Christmas and Happy New Year or Happy Birthday to you to us when we tuck him in at night. Sometimes it is difficult to tell whether he is saying Happy New Year or Happy Birthday, and he is quick to correct if it is the later, saying, No, with cake!. At elast he has his priorites in line.
