Monterey bay

We had a lovely trip down to Monterey over Memorial Day weekend. It is about an hour south of us. We stayed at great hotel right on the beach. It was overcast most of the time, but then we didn't get sunburned:) It was a fun, relaxing weekend. When we planned to go for two nights, I hadn't really thought about what that would mean in a one bedroom hotel-Andrew still takes 3 hour naps. So, we all laid down at naptime, and Mommy and Daddy happened to drift off too. We had been to Monterey the previous Labor Day with Oma and Grandpa, and so had seen the aquarium, so this time we spent some time at Dennis the Menace park and the beach.

Dennis the Menace park has a train engine that appears to be full-scale. Andrew really had fun on it and talked about it the rest of the weekend.

There was also a huge roller slide that was fun for kids and parents alike. And good for teaching kids skills like waiting in line:) Not pictured here, there is also a large pond around the park that rents paddle boats. We rented one and had Andrew in-between us (in a life preserver). We was very nervous for most the trip, but started having fun when we let him be the navigator, and tell us how fast or slow to paddle.

Fun at the beach.
